World in Watertown is a civic organization founded in 1999 to protect and promote
non-discriminatory practices in Watertown, Massachusetts. Since then we have expanded our mission to:

* Create and support local educational programs and other initiatives to honor our town’s diversity.

* Bring together members of the community to celebrate our cultural differences.

* Advocate for fair and equal treatment for all.

Together with individuals, community organizations, faith communities, schools, businesses, and town agencies, we build bridges of cooperation to further strengthen Watertown as a welcoming place for all.

Unity Breakfast

The Unity Breakfast is an annual celebration, sponsored by World in Watertown, honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.

It has become a Watertown tradition that brings together hundreds of people representing Watertown’s diverse population to remember the man who led the fight to end prejudice, racism, and economic injustice.

What We Do

We sponsor public events and educational programs to encourage constructive dialogue about important issues relating to equal rights.

We partner with other local organizations to strengthen our programs and foster greater community participation.

We organize the annual Watertown Unity Breakfast to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We provide information and referrals about community resources, and important rights or responsibilities under anti-discrimination laws.

The Kingian Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (KNCC) is a separate working group within World in Watertown.  Its mission is to organize and conduct community initiatives based on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's principles of nonviolence.
