2024 Unity Breakfast

 
 

The 24th annual Watertown Unity Breakfast was once again a virtual event. For the first time, community members were recognized with two new awards: the Watertown Community Visionary Award, and the Sue Kuder Memorial Unsung Hero Award.  

​The Refugee Support Group: Winner of the 2024 Unity Award​

The Refugee Support Group, a working group of Watertown Citizens for Peace, Justice, and the Environment,  was formed in 2014 in response to the Syrian Refugee Crisis. They engage in diverse activities to help refugees from all over the world,

including vigils, cultural celebrations, clothing drives, legislative efforts, film festivals, and direct support of Massachusetts refugee families in need.

Quyen Tran: Winner of the first Watertown Community Visionary Award​

Quyen is receiving this scholarship to support their workshop for members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Tyler and Eric Kemp-Benedict: Winners of the Sue Kuder Memorial Unsung Hero Award​

Tyler and Eric were leaders of Watertown Citizens for Black Lives throughout it's existence., ​They are strong advocates for the Black community and other marginalized communities in Watertown.

We remember and honor Susan Klaw with the Sue Kuder Memorial Unsung Hero Award​

Susan was a founder and active Board member of World in Watertown.  She provided special leadership in World in Watertown's sponsorship of a naturalization ceremony and voter registration. She was actively involved in the Unity Breakfast over many years.
